This shepherd raises a really gorgeous flock of Icelandic sheep and produces wool that is close enough to Icelandic Icelandic wool for me to be happy. “Sylvia” has a very unusual fleece coloring: brown mouflon. This takes careful attention to attain and crops p rarely in a flock. Her fleece has a tog and thel so close in texture as to be nearly single coated – but it exhibits 3 lock types: super soft undercoat with matching tog, really curly locks and the more customary lock which has a clear outer and inner coat. The shepherd is working on length, but because this fleece is effectively single coated I don’t mind the length.
